Walk 11: Stonyford, Glen Lethnot to Dalbrack & Invermark, Glen Esk

Length: 13km/8 miles linear.  Ascent: 230m

Start: Stonyford Glen Lethnot 09.45. (Bus from Kirriemuir at 09.15).   Grid Ref: 502 727

 

Finish: Glen Esk car park 15.00 Bus to the Retreat for refreshments (Return bus to Kirriemuir leaves at 16.00).

 

Registration: ALL Walkers must register with the Event Centre at Kirriemuir Town Hall at least 15 minutes prior to bus departure. If you are planning to meet the bus en route or are travelling to the walk's starting point by your own transport, then you can register by phone on 07825 387330. If you do not register, you will not be permitted to join the walk.

 

About the walk: From near Stonyford the walk follows the glen of the Burn of Tillybardine past the Clash of Wirren, a deep cleft near the south part of the pass between Lethnot and Glen Esk to reach the high point between Cowie Hill and Garlet. The walk then descends on a track to the farm at Dalbrack in Glen Esk, follows a short section of minor road and then takes the track below Hill of Rowan with views of the Rowan Tower monument before finally reaching the Invermark car park.

 

Full hillwalking gear required. Please bring a packed lunch.
